The White House and Democrats have put forward a bill to stop subsidies to oil companies -- which seems especially sensible given that from 2001 to 2011, the top five companies made $1 trillion in profits. "Karl Rove and his cronies...love to give away taxpayer money to the richest people in the world -- and this is a perfect example of it," Cenk says. It's a good investment, too -- for every $1 spent lobbying, oil companies made about $30 worth of tax breaks.
